Architectural Specialties, a family-owned leader in commercial door and window solutions, is seeking apprentice to experienced lead installers to join our team in Gillette. Candidates with construction, welding, farm/ranch, or military maintenance experience will thrive in this role.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Install and repair commercial doors and windows in diverse settings, including hospitals, schools, military facilities, farms, aviation hangars, and retail buildings.
  • Service and install door security hardware, such as locks, exit devices, and closers.
  • Perform installations in new construction projects.
  • Maintain accurate paperwork for internal and customer requirements.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Pass a basic background check and/or pre-employment drug test.
  • Reliability and a commitment to excellence in every job.
  • Willingness to travel, with occasional overnight stays (typically 1–2 nights).

Architectural Specialties LLC – Rapid City, SD

Architectural Specialties is hiring a technician to install and service commercial access control and security systems across western South Dakota and northeastern Wyoming.

Most of our work is in hospitals, schools, government buildings, and industrial facilities. We are not a residential alarm company. We integrate electronic systems directly with commercial doors and hardware, so the work requires clean installs, attention to detail, and solid troubleshooting.

We’re open to different experience levels — from seasoned access control technicians to electricians ready to move into system work, to entry-level candidates who are comfortable working with tools, wiring, and computers.

If you’re willing to learn and take pride in your work, we’ll train the right person.

Responsibilities

  • Running and terminating low-voltage cabling (Cat5/6 and control wiring)
  • Installing access control systems and electrified door hardware
  • Installing and servicing video surveillance and related systems
  • Mounting hardware and devices cleanly and professionally
  • Programming and configuring systems on a computer
  • Testing, commissioning, and training customers
  • Troubleshooting system issues in the field
  • Working indoors, outdoors, and occasionally at heights
  • Traveling overnight when projects require multi-day stays

Who This Position Fits

Entry-level candidates who are comfortable running wire, installing hardware, and working with software-based systems
You should be comfortable using tools, reading diagrams, following instructions, and learning new systems.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of electrical or security system experience preferred (not required for the right entry-level candidate)
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams and blueprints
  • Basic understanding of low-voltage wiring and networking is helpful
  • Comfortable using a laptop and Microsoft 365
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs
  • Strong time management and communication skills

Pay & Benefits

Full-time, Monday–Friday

Pay: $20–32/hr depending on experience and skill level with travel per diem when applicable
